Board Game Spinner
« on: July 18, 2020, 03:48:36 pm »
I think other people have made this in the past, but I wanted to see if I could do it myself. It's a board game spinner that when you click the green arm of the spinner, it spins around and lands at a random location. It uses a spinner picture I got online of Candyland. Feel free to use your own spinner pictures, at 400 x 400. Adjust the values as needed for the center point, right now the center of the picture is x = 196 y = 200. I also made it so the spinner arm slows down as it stops spinning. This could be used if a game is missing a spinner or the spinner is broken.
Kens Spinner.bas and spinner.png are in the Kens Spinner.zip file in the attachments below.
Enjoy.

**** Update!
**** Here is an updated with 2 spinners to choose from, press the Space Bar to switch back and forth between them. One has 6 colors and numbers and the other has 12 colors and numbers.
This Version 2 has been put on this attachment. Here are also 2 pictures of the spinners, they are also included in the zip file. If you are wondering how I added the numbers, I used my app Paint.Net to rotate the picture each time to put each number in place. Also, I made the second one with 12 by using the first one and just adding more sections and changing the colors.

Ken,

Your spinner reminded me of a dice substitute for Monopoy during World War 2.

The things that one remembers when prompted by a spinner....

Wow! I don't think I've ever seen a dice substitute spinner before! Thanks!

Didn't realize CandyLand had a spinner, I thought it was card based? Interesting!
FYI you can simply remove the attachment and re-attach the new file to the same post. ;)

I may animate that WWII die spinner, that looks really neat! The adaptation of games of 75 or so years ago to deal with the troubles in the world.
Granted after becoming radioactive I only have a half-life!

Thanks Cobalt. By the way, Google says Candyland changed from cards to a spinner in 2013.

I just added numbers on the spinner and made a brand new spinner with 12 colors and numbers. You can switch back and forth between them by pressing the Space Bar. The update is on the first post of this thread.
