old software for qb4.5
« on: October 14, 2020, 04:11:04 pm »
Hello

Is anyone heard of a set up utilities for qb4.5 know as qbscr or qb screens and such written by a guy by the name of Tony Martin it gave qb4.5 a lot of addons that made it very nice. If so how compatible are these utilities to qb64 and if they can be used what is needed to convert them to qb64.

If it was either a .lib or a .qlb, these won't be compatible. If they were open source, then that's something else.

Hello

the can be made into a qlb or a lib but most are .bas and obj files that when included they compile to an exe. I and send you a copy if you wish. I have the last release of them. i lived in va at this time and communicated with Tony at that time told me i could do what i wanted to do with them because he was not going to continue support for the routines

I found this on Google:
https://www.pcorner.com/list/MISC/QBSCR.ZIP/INFO/

The Window, Menu and Frame code might be useful but you can do all this yourself and probably better with QB64.

Badger thanks for your kind consideration. You are free to choose your way to post of course not having to bend to my personal prejudice but I would definitely appreciate zip or 7 dang! 7 something.

Yeah, 7zip opens pretty much all of the common Windows and *ix archive formats, and many of the less-common ones. The page at 7-zip.org lists the formats it supports:

Quote
  • Supported formats:
    • Packing / unpacking: 7z, XZ, BZIP2, GZIP, TAR, ZIP and WIM
    • Unpacking only: AR, ARJ, CAB, CHM, CPIO, CramFS, DMG, EXT, FAT, GPT, HFS, IHEX, ISO, LZH, LZMA, MBR, MSI, NSIS, NTFS, QCOW2, RAR, RPM, SquashFS, UDF, UEFI, VDI, VHD, VMDK, WIM, XAR and Z.

You have been so helpful to me it is the least i can do. I just happen to own a licensed copy of winrar that is why i use it and i like the interface. But for Qb forums i will use zip it does not bother me i have other zippers and such..

Yes! Thanks @jack  @freetrav  @badger  I'm good with 7zip!

Checking out the rar files now.

It's was a long time ago but something about rar software I had an issue with, something about locking files up with password... I don't remember now the details, it was at a time when ransomware was becoming a problem.

Some of the stuff in the qbscr files if very useful like the windowing and such. the menus and the dropdown menus. qb64 has its own mouse routines so that is not a problems but i would really like to be able to use some of the stuff in there.
