Summer is almost here
« on: May 18, 2020, 12:32:50 pm »
I know, not the right place to put this, but I have a pic I need to share.

I live right down the road from Cedar Point and can't wait until it opens again. I was going through my images looking for some good sprites for the tutorial when I stumbled across the picture below. It's the first time my son and I were on a roller coaster together and makes me crack up every time I see it. I thought maybe someone else could use a good laugh. It's snoopy express, a very mild coaster but the look of terror on the kid's eyes is just priceless.

No worries Terry... The Navy will need future recruits, too.

Your story reminded me of the time my wife and I took my son to this dinosaur exhibition when he was four. Pretty tame stuff, dig in sand for plastic fossils, photos, bones... until you got to the end and they had these giant mechanical triceratops and t-rex robots. I couldn't convince my Son they were fake. I held his hand and took him a little closer, but then he let go. I kept looking forward, and pointed saying, see, they won't hurt you! At hat point I felt a shove behind me. Yep, my four year old pushed me towards the t-rex and when I looked back, he was already hiding behind Mom. That's when I knew the kid was going to be a survivor!

Thanks for sharing the photo and story, even if it wasn't strictly QB64 related. We all can't be as on-topic as I.

Pete

Edited in: I just read the text under the pic. My kid's middle name is Brandon. Don't worry. I didn't copyright it. Just as long as your kid's middle name isn't Pete, you guys are in the clear.

My family took my son on Disney's Thunder Mountain. When they hit the big flume drop a picture was taken. My son had a look of soul numbing terror. He just knew his number was up. LOL

LOL, funny stories guys. Kids do the funniest things. My son Brandon over the years braved every coaster with me including the Top Thrill Dragster and the Millennium Force. My other son that's 2 years younger, no way, no how, won't even consider it.

Funny you mention the Navy Pete. He's 19 now and threatens to join the Navy every time I get on his nerves!

My Son is 21, and threatens to put me in the Navy every time I get on his nerves. It can't be all that bad. I mean I imagine all of the Village People must have been discharged by now.

LOL. All kidding aside though, I spent months at a time on the USS John F Kennedy Aircraft Carrier (CV67) because I was in a Marine A6E attack squadron. At one point there were 5,500 of us on that beast of a ship and it ran like clock-work. Those sailors dress funny but damn that ship was always in first class condition.

So you were in A-6-E Attack Group? Hmmm, sounds a lot like the Village people. Exactly how 6E was it? Okay, okay, I confess. I was in the 2-6-E Attack Group. I'm 2-6-E for this post.
