Some people do end the string with a delimiter as a rule. I had cases of that in 1999. I coded for both with and without on my function.

I assume _TRIM$ is a new function in the new QB64? I don't have it on my version

Yes _TRIM$ was tested in last development update and now in stable version 1.3.
