application menu response problem
« on: September 07, 2018, 09:55:05 am »
my system is a Mac with high Sierra and QB64 development version 1.2 downloaded Augest 15, 2018
the problem is that when a QB64 application is launched the application menu does not respond, unless I set the focus on another window and then click on the app main window, then the menu works as it should.
this issue is noticed in the game Color My Heart https://www.qb64.org/forum/index.php?topic=542.msg3934#msg3934 and in the InForm Calculator https://www.qb64.org/forum/index.php?topic=507.0

Works the same for me, also High Sierra. It has to do with how Apple's freeglut implementation creates windows. You'll also notice the red close button is never enabled. It also still puzzles me why.

Also: with every QB64 app, not only the ones you mentioned. With the IDE itself too.

One can argue that the system menu that is offered by Apple's freeglut is rather useless though.

perhaps QB64 for macOS could be modified so that when a QB64 app is launched, it will un-focus and then re-focus the app, thereby circumventing the problem.
