New project
« on: June 22, 2021, 06:15:12 pm »
Now that my last game is finished with the source released and a somewhat embarrassing release of the online version that was left in test mode, i have a few projects sidelined that i have been eyeing. Guys have any preference on these?

Hacking MMO, this is mostly done but it has no substance to it, it is basically right now a fully working tech demo.
Got a submarine game sort of like silent service that i have some ideas written down
Stereospace 3
A 3D version of my tank game made in 2016. Right now it is a terrain generator with Everquest sound effects.
And another client - server based game based on the movie Contact where you have to find the alien signal and decrypt it by pointing the telescopes at points in the sky. This is mostly a puzzle / problem solving type of game.

Advice? Ok. But you may not agree with or like what I suggest.

My wife will confirm this... I am terrible at multi-tasking... I too have several projects either 'in the works" or as doodles on paper... My problem is that, because I tinker on all of them, nothing of value is ever created. Imagination and focus are my two biggest hurdles.

Of all the projects that you mentioned, which on is the most fun 'for you' to work on? My advice is to focus on that one. When it's done, move onto the next, and so on...

Your path will determine how you create games. If you create games for a hobby then make games that 'you' enjoy playing. If you want to make a career out of game development, then by all means, ask others what 'they' enjoy playing. There is a saying that I like, "If you are not having fun then you are doing it wrong."

Seeing that you asked.... I like retro games. 2D platformers; Space shooters etc but I do play some older 3D stuff... DOS versions Doom, Starwars etc... So your 3D Tank game sounds interesting... Proper rendered landscape or Vector like Battlezone?

Looking forward to some screen shots or sample games... Sounds like fun..!

As far as sample games, Stereospace 2 is actually in the games library on this site. And i just submitted the game i just finished. There are two versions. Everything else is at http://craz1000.net

With what you said, the 3D tank game is actually the oldest of everything i have shelved. It is fully rendered here is a screen shot of the current state, This was last touched in 2019.

Tanks6 was pretty cool. The projectiles were a little hard to see against the starfield, but once I knew what I was looking for, it was a little easier... I think I lasted about 5 or 6 shots... lol
I got to the first "Boss" on Sterospace 2...

I may prefer those type of games... but I am still FAR from mastering them... lol

Very nicely done...

Nice you actually helped me verify my server can support both games at the same time from outside my home by playing Stereospace 2. So thank you lol
