Is there a simple way to make a window pop up over my main program and not have to reprint everything on the screen when it closes?

QB64 1.4, x86 version running on XP Pro 32 bit, Service Pack 2.
Programs compile fine, but will not launch if they contain the PLAY command. However, program compiled on this system does launch fine on Windows 10 x64 and even Wine running on Linux Mint. Has anyone else experienced this?
