I use Linux and, yes, I have the same problem. I suppose I've gotten used to it and haven't given it any thought... until you mentioned it..

I don't normally use the IDE in 'full screen'. I think I've gotten into the habit of just not going 'outside' unless I really have to... But, I think you're right, the 'focus' needs to be addressed... Unless they come up with a neural interface first of course... lol THAT would be cool...

Have a great day.

Quick question: Q4OS looks nice and clean. What were the main reasons for choosing Q4OS? Just curious.

Thanks. I have been using Mint for the past 6 years and figured it was 'time to change'. I am interested in other opinions about other OS's. Thank you both for your input. Much appreciated.

It's good to have another Aussie user! Waiting for replies from elsewhere can take up to a day or more before getting responses. There are exceptions but I have learned to be patient... lol

Anyway... The problem at hand. You have probably read that the other Linux users (Q4OS - https://q4os.org/) do not seem to have our problem. Lagging... hmm... Running on a Desktop or Laptop? (CPU and RAM for both) - Process of elimination to try and determine machine performance issue. Q4OS and Lubuntu or Xubuntu are setup to run on low resource (old) machines. Mint and Ubuntu are a little hungrier on the machines...

If you are running with Mint (that's me) or Ubuntu, the loss of focus on the IDE, maybe something we may have to live with. I still have not found a work-a-round. I do have QB64 (windows version) that runs through wine and just tested it now. Started QB64 and the IDE loaded ok. Deliberately moved the mouse away from the IDE and began typing just gibberish... Focus remained on the IDE and the gibberish entered onto the IDE...

Me personally, I prefer running native... I am not a fan of Micro$oft... Linux user since Ubuntu 5.10... ;) Have you been using Linux long or have you just recently 'converted'? Just curious...

It's after midnight and my last intake of caffeine seems to be wearing off. Time to hit the sack. We Melbourians have a low sleep threshold... NSW seems to generate a sturdier stock...

Goodnight.

using linux since windows xp was kind of my last windows system.... never looked back. have tried different versions of linux, but mint is my favorite. never had issues with speed.. i run a 6core amd 3600 on an asus motherboard with 8 gig video ram and 8gig main memmory. 6gb transfer sata drives with 2tb data storage. 55inch screen. and all i want to do is play with qb64.... tiny and big (game) runs on max res 1920x1080 and not miss a beat. my system profile say between 1% to 3% processor usage. just not sure why the ide on qb64 is sluggish.

Problem fixed.... yay......

just installed latest version. just alt enter full screen. all fixed

Well done! Latest version; Full screen. Brilliant!

ps. You run with LM 18.2? (cinnamon or mate)  I recently switched to cinnamon. Used mate since 13.10... 55 inch screen? Whoa! Very cool...

Running KDE on linux mint 18.2

I tried ubuntoo, redhat, mandriva

my favourite system was mandriva. never an issue. but i wont leave mint. this is just install and all good.

my video card it twisted using cable ties as the is a crack somewhere in it and my cpu is held in by a coat hanger. you have to see it to believe it. looks like a job from a land rover owner but works great.

KDE. Cool. I believe that Q4OS is based on Debian and uses KDE.

I tried Mandriva some years back. It had just changed from Mandrake Linux. It looked a lot better than most Linux OS's back then, but the machine that I had, was way under powered to run it efficiently...

I tried Redhat 6 way back. Installation, not just for redhat, was particularly complicated. Not like the "boot loading" installers of today...  I didn't get very far with it. Had no idea as to what to do with it... lol Knew almost nothing about Linux, but just wanted to see what it was like...

As I said before, I have been using Mint since version 13, and have found it very stable and relatively easy to use... Cinnamon has it's quirks but I prefer Mate. What made you choose KDE? Not judging. Just curious.

Interesting... Cable ties and a coat-hanger... MacGyver would be proud of you!

This morning's coffee is beginning to wear off. Best get cracking and fire up the coffee machine...
