Installation problem on Debian
« on: December 23, 2019, 10:05:50 pm »
Hi Folks,

First of all, merry Xmas and Happy New Year to all of you.

Now, a little problem when installing QB64 on Debian distros (and others).

Some times ago, the "/qb64/internal/c/makeline.txt" was modified by adding the "no pie" option in the command line!!!

Unfortunately, this is wrong for several distros including especially for Debian (incuding the last 8 and 9 releases).

However, my multi tongues installation script (English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Russian) takes care of this by checking the GCC settings, then providing the right command line arguments accordingly to these settings.

If needed, I can provide to the development team a modified version of the tiny and basic Matt Kilgor "setup_lnx.sh" script, but don't you think it's now the time to replace this old (2013) and deprecated stuff by the script I maintain for over 4 years and that has already been downloaded over 1000 times ?

You can download my script here : http://www.as2.com

What do you think ?

Cheers.
