My ,partial, demo portfolio...
« on: October 08, 2020, 02:32:22 pm »
A few little projects that always seem to be on the back burner. just compressed these things for ease, source and resources included as well as a compiled EXE. Might need some tweaking for use on linux systems as I don't think the file names are case-matched. Added the TTF version of the font too in case there are problems with the OTF version. Of course to use it you will need to recompile the source.

ArcoMage:
Based off the version found in Might & Magic VII.
Simply a display demo of the layout, card dealing and look of the game.
I think I ran into mechanical issues with getting things to roll smoothly and work properly. All the _PUTIMAGE calls were bogging this down too, if I remember properly.

AstroSmash!:
Based off the Intellivision game from 1981.
This is a playable demo, no sounds as of yet so let yourself go and add your own sound FXs! Go for a high score and don't get blown up! This is probably 80% done, it lacks a few items, Alien spaceship, tracker bombs, and splitting 'oids. but you can play as long as you last!
Extra life every 1000 points, gain points by shooting falling objects, loose points by letting 'oids hit the ground, die if a bomb hits the ground or you are struck by an 'oid!
Controls:
LEFT and RIGHT - move your ship on the screen
SPACE - Fires your Blaster. This is a semi-auto weapon, you must release the trigger to fire again.(Upgrade expected in SEY 3031)
DOWN - uses your short range transport ability, this is an experimental device the can only Randomly teleport you on the surface!
ESC - Quit, but why would you want to?

The Dreadnaught Factor!:
Another Intellivision game, this one from 1983.
A partially playable demo here. Choose your difficulty 1-7(only 1 is actually active here) and battle your way through 1 to 100 massive dreadnaught class battle ships. Destroy them before they reach the stargate and blast your home world.

Again ran into speed issues with all the screen updating needed to play this game smoothly. Solved some of that but never fully moved on. Ran into some issues with mechanics again on how to have the dreadnaught guns fire back and other computer AI type actions. You can blast all the laser-able targets on the deck and you can drop bombs but the bomb hits are not implemented.
Again no sound FX active. With out the bombs you can't actually destroy the ships, just blast the hades out of the deck guns.
Controls:
1 to 7 - Start Game. Changes difficulty level(or would if done)
LEFT - Launch and Accelerate toward the Dreadnaught
RIGHT - Slow Down
UP and DOWN - move your ship up and down
SPACE - Fire your blaster
ENTER - Drop "dummy" bombs
ESC - Quit Game. yeah after blasting all the deck guns you really cant do anything else.. :(

Granted after becoming radioactive I only have a half-life!
