System Freezes (Alt-Tab may be to blame)
« on: June 03, 2018, 08:39:57 am »
Is there a known issue about using Alt-Tab (or similar) while a program is running?  I'm not sure exactly what key combo I used, but it's happened at least twice now.  I'm using the Linux version of QB64 with Ubuntu 18.04.
I may not always finish what I've started....

I ran the Gor64 sample program and hit Alt-Tab and the game and machine continued to function correctly. I am using Linux Mint 18.1  By the way, which program stalled when you did the key presses? Curious to see if I can reproduce the problem....

While it was frozen again (except the mouse pointer) I hit something like Ctrl-Alt-F5 and got a prompt asking for my login, then password.  I entered those and then entered "exit" and I think it returned to the prog. that crashed, and I think I briefly saw the desktop.  I think I then pressed Ctrl-Alt-Del and it rebooted.  Now I don't know whether or not I could've somehow exited the offending program w/o restarting the system.  Whatever!

Anyway, I'm working to prepare it for posting here.  I appreciate your attention.

Hello. I have similar problems with the latest IDE too. It does it all the time, but only on the notebook (HP EliteBook 2540p, Intel I5) does not actually hide the IDE window and then the program window is badly redrawn. On the other computer (AMD Phenom), it all works well. But I do not have enabled system upgrades Windows 7 on my laptop because it can burn me, when I want to turn off my computer, so Microsoft will not dictate how long I have to wait until I'm upset to install annoying updates. I do not have to wait and I will not.

I always solve this bug through the task manager, where I end the QB64.EXE process. Otherwise it is not possible. I thought the latest version of IDE would be fine (before, I used a lot of .75, which was so angry, but unfortunately, it's the same. Both PC´s use W7.

I was going to suggest maybe a driver issue but this is happening with Linux AND Windows. I am running with Linux Mint (based on Ubuntu) and I have no problems. Can I ask which program(s) causes your machines to stall? I can then run that (those) program(s) on my machine and see if I get the same result.
