so ive been on the hunt for a programming language and tried python and didn't like it. i tried freeBASIC and found it overwhelming from its available guides. i then found QBASIC. it looks like an awesome language. i found this board and thought id join! so this is me saying hello :). while im talking already, does anyone have any good resources to learn QBASIC. i have one thats called "QBASIC boot camp" but im wondering if theres a better book out there.

+1 while QB64 was based on QBASIC and remains very compatible to old code, you'd probably want to learn QB64 from more modern tutorial like Terry's to get state of the art and not learn old stuff replaced by better.

Welcome to the QB64 forum. I hope that your stay with us will be a benefit to all. QB64... Kind of like the "Big Brother" to QBasic. Any books? I am still relatively new to QB64 and haven't found much. But there are a lot of Basic books out there that will require varying degrees of modification. But, to be honest, books are fine to a point. I recommend that you take up the already excellent advice given and work your way through Terry's tutorials. The tutorials are very well written and simply laid out. Books will give you examples and ideas. Forums are a valued asset for support.

Post by: Dav on June 14, 2021, 07:08:55 am: +1 Terry’s awesome tutorials. If Terry ever puts them in a hard book form for sale I’d buy it in a New York minute just to say thanks. I just re-read the collision detection task. So helpful.

Also, don’t forget to take advantage of the great QB64 wiki & help. Every keyword is covered and most come with nice code examples.
