Title: Failure to Launch (WinXP, PLAY Command)
Post by: Grizzly Adam on July 11, 2020, 12:09:11 pm
QB64 1.4, x86 version running on XP Pro 32 bit, Service Pack 2.

Programs compile fine, but will not launch if they contain the PLAY command. However, program compiled on this system does launch fine on Windows 10 x64 and even Wine running on Linux Mint. Has anyone else experienced this?

According to the wiki FAQ WinXP is the lowest OS that QB64 will run on. Perhaps it's the 32bit thing. I don't know really as I've never used PLAY. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along to advise. Welcome to the forum.

If you look at the post I opened a few months ago, I think you will find the answer.

Try plugging some speakers or headphones into the computer with XP.
I took testing everything on the computer that did not work, and that had Windows 10 Home, and it was because it was a desktop computer and had no speakers connected, so Windows disables the sound card and therefore it gives an error. In my case it was because of the Beep order.
