Title: Edit window size
Post by: DAColey on March 30, 2020, 06:20:41 am
Hi,
I have just started QB64 for the first time.
I am using a Mac
I can't see most of the editor window, just the bottom left portion. Hence can't see the menu commands, or the vertical scroll bar on the right
I have tried going into system, display etc, but this doesn't seem to help
I can't find anything on the wiki or google
Thanks for you help

+1

I have exactly the same problem. It is unimportant what screen resolution I use.
I can send a screenshot, but I don't think that would help.

Alt + O (the letter O) and then take your finger off the alt key and press D. That will open the display window in the IDE. Try an 80 width and 25 height setting or smaller if it is that, already. Of course, from what you described, you might not be able to see and get to those input lines when the display window opens. I don't use a Mac, so I'm not sure why this happened to you, and someone else who uses a Mac may post a better solution. You may need to just re-install QB64, as an alternative.

Thank you, Pete, for your help.
Unfortunally it didn't help. I have no Idea, what is wrong with the configuration.
I have a windows-PC, and there I have no troubles. Maybe it is the retina-display.
In the terminal-window there is to read:

Last login: Tue Mar 31 17:40:14 on ttys000
/C/qb64/qb64/qb64 ; exit;
Stephans-iMac:~ stephanbrocker$ /C/qb64/qb64/qb64 ; exit;
          Display Type: Built-In Retina LCD
          Resolution: 5120 x 2880 Retina

I will try with a lesser resolution, but I don't think it will help.

There is some very strange behavire too:
If I resize the windows horizontally, I am able to do so. the right half of the window will be viewable.
But if I resize the window vertically, it behaves wrong. If I size the windows down, making the window larger, the content of the window scrolls up. It becomes smaller and a large black field appears.
If I resize it up, the content scrolls down. I am able to see the upper parts of the content, but the window becomes flatter and flatter.

Update:

The solution was: Install my Mac completely new.
I have the Mac for some years now. And today it was the time to set ip up anew.
Now I have the actual OS version (Catalina) and now the actual version ob QB64 works fine :)

Thanks for all the help here. And I mean it.

The difference: I did not grade up, I reinstalled the Mac at all.
