Hi,
I wrote the SICK project and it is being distributed as SICK64D1.ZIP in the samples gallery and I was wondering:
could 'The Librarian' update it to SICK64D3.ZIP sometime in the near future?
It can be found here: https://www.qb45.org/download.php?id=1905
Or if can't be reached, try: http://www.filegate.net/pdn/pdnbasic/SICK64D3.ZIP
Thanks, Erik.
btw: does 'The Librarian' even exist or he is some sort of bot??
-
Hello Erik,
We will definitely get to updating this for you - thanks for keeping us current on the project, too. I had a fun time playing with it.
(The Librarian is not a bot, but not a single person either.)

So they’re married?!!
Congratulations! I must’ve missed that announcement.
-
Could you indicate in this thread when the SICK project has been updated in the samples gallery? Thanks, Erik.
-
Hello Erik,
The Samples entry has been updated. The download count had to get wiped, and the version/year has been updated. Everything else on that page look good and current?
-
Everything looks OK. Thanks, Erik.
btw: this is the last upgrade for SICK ever; it has been finalized.

Actually, the URL: http://www.[abandoned, outdated and now likely malicious qb64 dot net website - don’t go there]/forum/index.php?topic=13148 works. now..
Is rob restarting his [abandoned, outdated and now likely malicious qb64 dot net website - don’t go there]?
-
Hi. It works not. My browser wrote too many redirections, if try clicking to something.

That’s one odd link.... Doesnt look anything like the [abandoned, outdated and now likely malicious qb64 dot net website - don’t go there] forums, and the last posts are 10 years old...
-
Just visited that link :-
ALL the dates are 10 years old, number of posts etc is very small, and I cannot visit the sub-forums.
I am just attempting to sort out a few related things about my archives before I start the initial trials of uploading...
-
Well, that is the link in samples gallery for SICK, maybe someone could change it to:
https://www.qb64.org/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=198.0;attach=4273
which is where it actually is...

Whatever Galleon did to the old forum before he put it up again - removing attachments, deleting account info, making pages static - was done once. He hasn't touched it again ever since.
maybe someone could change it
Not doable, sorry.
-
Not doable, sorry.
Ok, but it suffers from linkrot..
(maybe STxAxTIC could do it)!?
-
Ok, but it suffers from linkrot..
Not doable cause we don't manage [abandoned, outdated and now likely malicious qb64 dot net website - don’t go there], that's why.
-
Nothing to do with managing [abandoned, outdated and now likely malicious qb64 dot net website - don’t go there], only updating the url to the sick project on qb64.org..
-
Ah, I see your point. Not doable either - urls are generated by the forum engine.
-
... Unless Erik is talking about the manual links at the top of every library post? Those can be whatever the Librarian manually sets them to. (Or maybe I skimmed this topic too fast.)
-
This is what I am talking about. In the samples gallery post for sick, the lines are:
Symbolic Instruction Code Kit (S.I.C.K.)
Author: Erik Jon Oredson (alias: eoredson) (eoredson@gmail.com)

Version: SICK64D3 (2019)

this is where the URL: needs to be changed.
-
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.
There you go.
Librarian, you’re on.
-
It should be changed to:
URL: https://www.qb45.org/download.php?id=1905
Right, STxAxTIC!?

did you see "Download QB64 for Windows 95/98/ME/2000/XP/VISTA/..."
when was QB64 ever available for Windows 98? let alone 95!?
it is on the same server running the pathetic excuse of a back up, maybe its probably some archaic off shoot of the forum that was forgotten back in its infancy? oldest post in the "back-up" in samples is Oct 12, 2008.
little easter egg, if you will, go into Tutorials, where it shows [1] 2 3 ... 6 click on the ... to show the numbers 4 and 5 then click on the 4 or the 5 and you goto that weird looking version of the forum from 2009!
-
The URL is supposed to be a link to some kind of website where the project was released or discussed. When I click "https://www.qb45.org/download.php?id=1905" it just brings me to a download, which kinda defeats the purpose of hosting the file on our site in the first place.
So going with that criteria, is there a so-called "home" on the web for discussion on this project? Even if its some other forum...
-
is there a so-called "home" on the web for discussion on this project?
Technically, no, there are only links to the file itself.. Sorry..
Erik.
Maybe the URL could point to itself but that would also defeat the purpose!?
Even if its some other forum...
Yes, https://qb45.org/download.php?id=1905 but that's about it -)
-
The question still remains; why is this still in the samples gallery for sick!?
URL: http://www.[abandoned, outdated and now likely malicious qb64 dot net website - don’t go there]/forum/index.php?topic=13148
where [abandoned, outdated and now likely malicious qb64 dot net website - don’t go there] is not a legit site supported by Rob, and may be a password capturing shell..
could you fix it or remove it?? Thanks, Erik.

From the topic here, for reference: https://www.qb64.org/forum/index.php?topic=198.0
The QB64.org Samples topic links back to [abandoned, outdated and now likely malicious qb64 dot net website - don’t go there]...
-
K its all fixed.
-
Ok, thanks, STxAxTIC...
