A neat little graphics display for the Atari Portfolio
And another plug for Re:Port newsletter!

This program is a demonstration of another program I'm working on, a set
of graphics routines to put both animation and 3D effects on the Portfolio,
for use in video games and other applications (any suggestions?)

To run, type ANIM. A 3D box appears and begins to move. I've found that
if you concentrate on the stationary box (moving it into the foreground),
there's a hint of 3D effect. This hint is made stronger by viewing the
screen from an angle (the Port screen's natural "LCD shadow" enhances the
effect).

Hit any key to end the program.

That's it! In actuality, the animation can be made much much faster with
a very simple adjustment to current routines; however, the amount of
"flicker" is too high. Next steps: Direct LCD writing to increase speed
and reduce flicker, and better 3D movement. Plus, I'd love to entertain
suggestions.

Of course, if you want to keep up closer with the development and be sure
of getting the best of the applications that I create with this, read on:

Now there's a newsletter just for you! "Re:Port" is the first newsletter

Portfolio and even modify, because every issue includes documented source
code if you want to make your own programming changes!

Each issue of "Re:Port" includes feature articles about the Portfolio,
its accessories, and its software. "Re:Port" has sections on programming,
DOS, connectivity issues, and much more. "Re:Port" also keeps you up to
date on the happenings in the Portfolio community by tracking CompuServe,
GEnie, and the Atari BBS so you know where the hottest new public domain
and shareware programs are! We tell you where to go and who to call to
get what you need for the Portfolio, and because we don't accept ads,
we tell you straight. Another feature is a letters column, so users
can trade tips or ask for help.

So subscribe today to "Re:Port," the independent bi-monthly for Atari
Portfolio users. You will also receive, absolutely free on your first
program disk, 60View, a program that lets you read text files using a
character font that changes the Portfolio screen from 40 columns by 8 rows
to 60 columns by 10 rows. That's a $25 value!

The first issue mailed Sept. 1. If you subscribe by Oct. 7, you can get
that first issue as part of your 6-issue subscription and have a chance
to enter a contest to win a 128K RAM card.

If you've seen the programs MACRO and TIMEDATE on CompuServe or GEnie, you'll
be happy to find that the registered versions of these programs are in
the first issue and disk as well. And the second issue will feature a
Portfolio spelling checker, so you won't want to miss it!

To subscribe, send $50 for 1 year (6 issues) or $90 for 2 years (12 issues)
